There are districts like South 24-Pargans, North 24-Parganas, Murshidabad, Bankura, Malda and Purulia where there is good potential for development of Beekeeping activities. The Directorate of M&SSE, West Bengal has been implementing training programmes on bee¬keeping in different districts having potential for development of bee- keeping programmes. These programmes are organized through the DICs in the district.
During 2008-09, Rs. 14.00 lakh was allotted by the Govt, for training of 280 persons in seven districts of West Bengal viz. Howrah, Hooghly, North 24-Parganas, Murshidabad, Bankura, Nadia and Purba Midnapur. Rs. 14.26.700/- was allotted by the Govt, for 2009-10 for training of 2880 persons of six districts of West Bengal viz. Hooghly, Nadia, Murshidabad, Howrah, Birbhum and Dakshin Dinajpur.
During 2010-11 Rs. 4,37,000/- was sanctioned by Govt, for training on Bee Keeping at Birbhum. |
